About the event

Two experts guide you on this unique experience in the woods. Certified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide  Kate Bast, proprietor of Shinrin-Yoku Madison, and Vince Aiello, forager extraordinaire, of Fire and Foraging.

Enjoy 3 hours gently experiencing nature with Kate and Vince, first with Kate on a 1.5-hour forest bathing walk, learning to activate your senses, notice, find stillness and just BEingness. On this silent, slow-going walk, Kate offers a series of invitations, or prompts, meant to help ground and you connect with Nature, and receive its myriad health and wellbeing benefits, as measured by science, and by each of our experiences in the moment. You will feel rejuvenated, and less stressed!

Following, Vince leads a 1.5-hour plant ID walk to help hone your foraging skills. Vince will point out what's growing in the woods that could make a delectable treat on your table. Bring a notebook to take notes.

Please dress in layers for the weather -- we will walk in all weather but the extreme. Mosquitoes and ticks are out, so bring your bugspray of choice, and consider wearing long pants tucked into socks, long-sleeved shirt, and light colors. Embrace getting slightly dirty or muddy! A cap and sunscreen are good to bring, too, as well as your own FULL water bottle.

Pit toilets on site.

Parking is in the MMSD Jackson Woods School Forest Day Lot, which is shared with Olson Oak Woods State Natural Area. If you get to the school forest campground, you've got a bit too far south on Frisch Road.

Upon registration, you will receive two forms and a map link to the location.
