About the event
Enjoy Shinrin-Yoku, a guided nature connection and forest therapy walk. Known as “forest bathing,” the practice helps you slow down, calm the mind, open and activate your senses, and helps you just be in the present moment, while immersed in and with nature.
On this group walk, you will connect with the beautiful MMSD Jackson Woods School Forest in Verona, taking in the fall colors and enjoying the peace of the forest. If you've been on a walk with Kate before, the walk will explore a different portion of the school forest.
Bring a full water bottle, wear clothing you're comfortable wearing when sitting or laying down on the ground, and closed-toe shoes. Dress in layers for the weather, which may mean a rain coat or bundling up!
Your field guide to the senses is Kate Bast, certified nature and forest therapy guide, who leads you on these slow-going, silent walks, and shares of-the-moment invitations (or prompts) to help you connect with the beautiful setting and sense of place,
This is not a naturalist tour, nor a cardio session, and there's couch or tubs in the woods! As we slowly and silently amble the trails , we will lean into the felt sense of the experience and sense of place, noticing what we notice. You'll come to understand what forest bathing is, and how nature is a balm for our health and wellbeing – the benefits are myriad – and walk away feeling calm yet reinvigorated. You'll understand how nature helps us more deeply enjoy life.
With apologies, these trails are not accessible. One mut be able to amble of their own accord. Pre-registration required.
Please be sure to fill out these required participation forms:
