About the event

Join Forest Bathing expert and certified guide Kate Bast of Shinrin-Yoku Madison, and expert forager and photographer Vince Aiello of Fire and Foraging for this engaing talk, beautiful visuals included!

Time with Nature simply makes us feel good. Science tells us why. Here's what else they'll cover in terms of their upcoming May 19 Forest Bathing and Foraging Field Trip for the Wisconsin Natural Resources Foundation:

Connect with Nature, find stillness - and edible plants! You'll learn to activate your senses with a Certified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide, and search for plants and fungi with an expert forager and photographer. Forest Bathing, or Shinrin-Yoku as the practice is known in Japan, guides you to open your senses, keenly notice, and deepen your relationship with Nature and its web of interconnections. Foraging shows our place in the natural world, and consuming natural edibles we become a greater part of the landscape and web.  Both experiences offer the chance to take in the medicines of the forest or prairie, and the myriad health and well-being benefits Nature provides. During the walk you will learn about traditional uses of plants that our ancestors knew all while learning identification techniques and some of the nutritional values of these plants. We may cover only a short distance to discover the bounty nature holds.
