Start Time/Duration/Location: 1 to 4pm ( 3 hours)

Olin Turville Park/Conservation Park, 1156 Olin-Turville Ct, Madison, WI 53715. Meet at the hilltop building located in the upper parking lot. Note you may need to park in one of the lower lots. Do not park in the boat launch area.

Event Description:

Bring the family or come yourself to enjoy a fun afternoon of nature connection! Just by spending time in nature, you will receive the many benefits nature offers for our health and wellbeing.

1pm-2:30pm: Adult + Children's Walks

Forest Bathing:  (also known as Shinrin-Yoku in Japan). Certified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide Kate Bast of Shinrin-Yoku Madison leads adults on a slow-moving, quiet, stress-relieving and restorative walk, offering respite and prompts for nature connection along the way. Experienced outdoor educator, elementary phys ed school teacher with Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD), mindfulness instructor, and poster-winner for the Children and Nature Conference Moira Farrell, of HIke & Heal Wellness LLC, leads a forest bathing walk filled with fun, games and nature connection activities for kids.

2:30pm-4pm: Foraging/Plant ID or Yoga

Foraging: Learn to identify edible plants and healing herbs, and learn about the folklore and benefits behind them. Vince Aiello, expert forager and photographer, and owner of Fire and Forage, leads the walk with humor, insights and deep knowledge. Yoga: Yoga also may be provided by Marci Speich, owner of Backyard Yoga LLC, a mindfulness and yoga instructor, and positive behavior coach for MMSD.

Intended audience: For all events, parents and children ages 5 on up. Parents with young children should plan to attend the children's walk.

Forest Bathing Participant max: 25 adults, 25 kids max

Foraging Plant ID walk: 30 max
